Wings Falls Quilters Guild held a Quilt Festival this weekend at the Adirondack Sports Complex in Queensbury. The local quilt show was not a ASG event...however many of our members were there with entries!
Member Karen Sturtevant won First Place for her "Still Singing for Blue" entry in Wearable Art division. Karen also entered another quilt called "Cosmic Curves."
Member Linda Denner entered and won 3rd place for a hand applique piece called "Baltimore Bunnies" and a machine applique called "Bird Song."
Member Laurie Collins won 1st place for a large machine applique hand quilt called "My Hibiscus" and 2nd place for a machine applique wall hanging long arm quilt named "Breaking Free" and 1st place for a mixed technique small quilt on long arm for "Hawaiian Dawn." Laurie also won Honorable Mention for "Hawaiian Palms" another wall hanging.
Member Eileen McCabe won 2nd place for a quilt on long arm named "Happy" a custom original design.
This quilt show was a terrific opportunity to view so much local talent! My favorite quilt was by Joanna Monroe for "Baby Buzz Flies Solo." She drew it herself then made it up in fabric: a cute bee with huge eyes flying towards a flower. It was so cute! Another showing of a working umbrella sure caught my eye! It was beautifully pieced with silk by Nancy DiDonato named "Saratoga Silks."
Our supporter Jude Spero had several original pieces on display: "Danish Delights" and "Butterfly Fancy's" just to name two! I am sure her new business adventure Little Louise Designs is on its way to become a huge success.
There were other supporters of our local Albany Chapter there as well, such as KC Custom Framing and Fabrics (check out the show and tell page on this blog, some of the blue fabric in the cd holder came from a scrap bag from her shop), and The Joyful Quilter.
I hope you enjoyed your visit to the quilt show. Do you have something you would like to share? I am sure you do!
Disclaimer: Due to the overwhelming nature of a Quilt show where there is so much talent: It is impossible to duly note all entries of members represented this weekend. However, if you as a ASG member would like your entry to be added in this post or as a "show and tell" post, please email Flo Turner with your info and pictures!
