This is a beautiful afghan our very own President Joyce Caruso made and wants to donate it to our chapter for a raffle.
Raffle tickets are available for people to purchase. The raffle tickets are for a drawing that will take place at the Annual Luncheon, Nov. 3.  First prize is an Angel Afghan (picture above) which was made by Joyce Caruso and second prize is a Tom Tom GPS.  Need not be present to win.  Tickets are $2.00 each or 3 for $5.00, a book of 6 is $10.00.
See your neighborhood group leaders or officers to purchase raffle tickets.

George?

The bus trip to the Expo was so much fun! I made a new friend:

Meet Member George Williams! George is a talented sewer who joined ASG in November of 2001. The outfit he is wearing was made by him. The pants are from a bedspread he made a while ago that was worn out in spots. So he is a recycler/reuser! He also says he made his wifes Easter outfit. He likes to make bathing suits and potholders among many other things. George has a heavy duty and very heavy sewing machine! It was great fun meeting George, unfortunately we chose different classes so we didn't see each other until it was time to get back on the bus. If you get to meet George ask him "what are you sewing?"

Tips!

Check out the May 2012 Threads magazine! Our very own member Debra Williams submitted a tip and was printed in this issue.

What is Threads Magazine? It is a Tauton's Press of Newtown, Conn. publication which was established in 1985. Not too long ago right? Yet this magazine has 108,580 paid subscriptions. That is a lot of readers right now reading Debra's tip!Threads says: "Threads is the premier magazine for sewing enthusiasts -- people who are passionate about sewing garments, home furnishings, gifts, and accessories."

Did you know you can get a significant discount on the Threads Magazine? It is one of the many perks of being an ASG member. Call up or send an email to our Member at large chair Maureen VanHeusen for all the details. Details about pricing are also on page 10 of our latest issue of Sew You Know. Just sew you know!

Info for some stats in above entry came from:http://www.taunton.com/press/pages/factsheet_th.asp

A year to remember

Hello members! The year 2011 is out! Say "Bye-Bye" and now we are living it up and sewing it down in 2012.
First up! The ASG Houston chapter is hosting the 2012 ASG Annual Conference and has invited all chapter in sewing blankets for the Community project this year. It is a three part project in that the blankets will be used for hospice patients, veterans, and babies. It is suggested that our chapter make these and donate them locally. There are directions for each of these projects which can be found on our www.ASG.org website.

We have two events coming up in April. The Sew Expo bus trip is on April 12 and is sure to be exciting. Check out the classes available at www.sewingexpo.com. More info to come on the financial and contact info. The second event is Peggy Sagers of www.silhouettepatterns.com on April 28. Again more info to come.

On September 29 we will have Mary Mulari of www.marymulari.com.

Have you asked yourself "where is my newsletter?" You are not alone! The chapter has decided to email the Sew You Know newsletter to your email on ASG files. If you check your email "in" box and don't see something from Sallye check your "SPAM" box or trash box and look for Sallye. Mine was deliveried 12/10/11. You can also view the newsletter on the www.ASG.org website, under members then look for chapter newsletters.

Look out soon for a FACEBOOK page of our very own!

A gentle reminder: This is your chapter! Make it what you want! Submit to the blog or newsletter, go to board meetings, participate in events and help out! There are so many part time ways you can assist our great Albany Chapter.

Best to all this year!
Bonny
