Happy Fall ya'll! I made a few things to share.
This is still that same blue acrylic yarn I've been working thru. Right now I am making another blue, same yarn baby sweater with a different pattern. I didn't enjoy this one as much since I had to pick up stitches along the button placket.
This is another baby sweater, it looks deeper color than it is, actually it is a light lavender. Here it is finished but doesn't have the button on the yoke yet. I made two of these! It was a fun pattern and pretty easy. My Red ribbon sweater. This is made from raw dirty fleece I bought at Rhinebeck I think in 2019, and had spun at the local mill in Greenwich. I only got a red because the note said I have to watch my gauge. I was terrified of bringing home moths after this sweater being in the barn at the Fair for a week so I put it in my car, in the sunlight for a week-it was summer after all, hoping the heat would kill any larvae, and then I put it in the freezer for a week, then I washed it. It is a bit on the itchy side, so I really need to wear it with a turtle neck, or maybe I need to make a dicky! lol. I have enough yarn for another sweater I am sure, but I think I will dye it first and maybe that will soften it a bit. Stay tuned!
This is a picture of my broken Singer. It is old, but not one of those fancy vintage ones. I bought this when I first got back into sewing as a full fledged adult before I knew anything about machines or what I wanted in a machine. It was bare bones, and really I am not sad except for the landfill to which it will probably end up. If you need any parts let me know, you can have it!
I made this for my god daughter who had something similar which was falling apart. She okayed the pattern and picked her own colors. To this day, I still don't know if she likes it. oy.
You may remember I made a little outfit in the same fabric as the bottom shorts. The top ones were just a sample of RTS that the wearer liked. Again, the fabric does not stretch as much as the sample and I didn't account enough when I traced. I know there is math involved but I thought I made adjustments, just not enough I guess. I think the little shorts are really cute though in that fabric.
I ended up submitting this one instead of the other blue one to the Fair. Got a blue ribbon!
Ok folks. It is quite pathetic of me not to have posted in all this time! I have so much to share! I have been busy in my sewing room and I made this set. It is a Galina from Madalynne Intimates bottom with a Simplicity top. I made this set for another person. Unfortunately, it did not work out. If you look closely, you can see the top is made with a lining, and the lining is turned to the inside around the arm. The pattern has you use binding instead, but all the previous makes in Pattern Review looked kind of messy to me so I did it this way and used understitching as far as I could to make the top roll a bit to the inside. The fabric is a Foil Lame from Fabric Warehouse. It is of good quality and it is what the wearer wanted. The stretch was a bit firm, more so than the pattern called for, so that is the majority of why it didn't work for the wearer. I am quite please with this set anyways, I think my sewing skill here really shows. Although, I do need a little practice on the V's especially the back, it looks a bit wonky, I was hoping that when worn it would pull and look smooth.
Some hats I knitted, these are no pattern, I made it up as I went along. I hope they fit someone. I kept the green for myself, it turned out so nice and soft. The blue yarn I have so much left over from a crocheted blanket I made my daughter a couple Christmases ago. I am trying to use it up. Right now, I am making a baby sweater with it.
Right before I made this, I told my bestie, Kathy, that I hate working with orange. Well, I guess not, because this lace was calling my name to use with this brown. I used the Josey pattern for this one. Fits great!
Another head wrap, this one is reversible!
I just love love love this one. The blue in the lace really says HELLO with the blue on the band and outer cup piece. I am going to enter this one in the Saratoga Fair. Wish me luck, going for the Blue ribbon!!
So these were a lot of fun. I don't like the uniboob look that an undershirt gives but I need sometimes the extra warmth. Ok, not today, but you know in the 9 months of winter we have. I took my RTW tanks and added some lace in different ways. This one would sit under my bra entirely. Works great! And I should make more like this, and the purple or green below.
This one you can see I added the lace, but kept the top piece of the binding. Still works. I figured, if I didn't like the binding I would just cut it off. But keeping it prevents the lace from gaping too wide.
This one was in process at the time. It is finished now, but you get the picture. lol. Oh, I crack myself up. I am really glad I have so much stash to pull my lace elastics from!
This one I made little mock cups. It was the least successful of my little experiments. You see, tanks have such negative ease that this just doesn't work.
Some of my hens had some bare backs so I made little covers for them. They don't seem to mind it. I keep them on for weeks until they either find a way to take it off, or their feathers grow in a bit. Their skin is not used to the sun, so this is really good for them to heal.
This is one of my TNT patterns. I bought this fabric at Joanns, they have several different prints. It is so smooth and soft, go get some! It is a knit, and feels like pajamas. I have several more I NEED to make before fall.
Ugh. I want to love it, but the sewing skill on this is poor, look at that neckline and arm hole. Yikes. No blue ribbon here! The neckline was too tight, so I hacked at it with my rotary cutter and made the neckline lower, which you can imagine had a cascade effect with those pleats. I tried again with another fabric, but I didn't adjust properly so it looks like crap too. I haven't finished it yet though, I am contemplating whether I will give myself permission to toss it, or try to salvage it.

When I was in NYC I took Jennifer Stern's pant class. This is my first pair after altering the paper pattern and making a first sloper in class with more adjustments. As you can see there is still some decent wrinkling that needs to be fixed. JS has been very generous and had two zoom classes after NYC to where we could show pictures and get help. By the second class I had these pants mostly made, and was able to get advice on how to fix. The front looks good though, and although the back is wrinkly and the side seam may not be completely straight, I really like how these look. Pants on my always seem to have such large pant legs that my legs swim in or have weird bulges on my hips where there is no flesh, or they dig in my waist and fit ok somewhere else. That is why we sew folks, to get what we want! I have a lot of sewing in my queue so I am not sure another pair of pants is in my near future, but I hope I do get motivated to make another. I have so much fabric to use!

You all may remember this jacket I made. I think Rita also made something with this fabric a while back. Well, I entered it in the Fair, and when I dropped it off, the people there were very impressed. It gave me a lot of hope that I would win -a ribbon of some kind. Well I did! I got Best of Fair on it! Yea me!

This is the back.
That is a Rhinebeck bag my hand is on, I embroidered on it, it says, Bonny's knits not for hire. That is because you would be waiting and waiting and waiting....lol
These photos won't behave, so I will explain out of order.
This is a head wrap I made. Someone I love needed some head covers, so I made a bunch for her and some for the local oncologist doctors office. I still have that bag ready to go, mental note, drop them off! I really loved this fabric. So pretty!
My hand knitted handmits that took literally YEARS to finish. Color work is not my thing, but you know, there are so many wonderful color work sweaters calling my name...

This is NOT NY, but our Lady in Las Vegas. This is to get you excited to come to the Conference in NY this year. It is in just a few weeks. I am going on Thursday and Friday. I might do a tour on Saturday. Let me know if you will be there, we can meet at the same table for lunch, or, I guess I will make some new sewing friends!
