Craftsy Does It Again!

Have you seen the new class by Beverly Johnson at Craftsy? It is brand new sharing her expertise! Sewing Bras: Construction and Fit, currently on sale at only $39.99. It has 7 lessons from construction, to fitting, to embellishing! I'm really excited about this, and looks like I'm not the only one because over 1000 people have enrolled in this class already. Sure I have taken many bra sewing classes, but with Beverly so far away in Canada, this is such a treat. To have more than 3 and a half HOURS of Beverly with me to sew beautiful bras is definitely worth the cost of this class. To help new bra sewists, Beverly is selling kits on her website to use just for this class. However, you don't really need to mail order from Canada, any bra kit will do with a two piece full band bra pattern.

I've read on Beverly's blog Life of a Fairy Bra Mother that if you want a particular class from her on Craftsy, to send Craftsy the request.  So, if your so inclined...please request how to add a bra like support to a bathing suit with underwires. This has been one skill that still needs to be in my tool box. Beverly has great bathing suit patterns!

Classes purchased at Craftsy are yours. You can go back anytime and watch again and again. If you want this or any class in Craftsy, click on blue text above or the box on the right of this screen!
Happy Sewing,
Bonny D

Attention all online FABRIC shoppers!

I was scrolling through my blogger reading list (where I read snippets of blog entries from talented blogging sewists) and came across one from Bunny at http://lasewist.blogspot.com. She was talking about a shirt she wanted to recreate using fabric she bought at Amazon.com (our link on right side of this page), and how Fabric.com was bought by Amazon.com.  So I did a little snooping and searched “knit fabric” on Amazon.com (our link on right side of this page) and clicked on Ponte de Roma Knit Charcoal.  This piece of fabric was sold by Fabric.com on the Amazon.com website, for $5.74 a yard, plus 2 dollar shipping.  No width description, fabric content or washing instructions, only says medium/heavyweight. So now I am very curious and I go to Fabric.com website and look up that Ponte de Roma Knit Charcoal there.  On Fabric.com website same fabric is $7.98 a yard. Width is 58”, made of 80% Polyester/15%Rayon/5%Lycra. Also says medium/heavyweight, with a “hand” description, how to use it, and washing instructions.
If I had placed orders, this is how it would have played out:
Amazon.com (our link on right side of this page)
3 yards $17.22 plus $6 shipping= total $23.22
Fabric.com
3 yards $23.94 plus $7.49 shipping (free if order over $35)=$31.43

This is an eye opener eh?  Not all fabric sold on Amazon.com is sold by Fabric.com, but still worth looking at! Although I'm not crazy about the lack of information about the piece of fabric on the Amazon.com site, I think I would still place an order if I was so inclined!
Paying less is best! Take the Amazon.com (our link on right side of this page) challenge yourself and let me know how you made out!
Using our Amazon.com link (our link on right side of this page) benefits our chapter, but does not add to your cost at Amazon.com or ASG Albany Chapter.
